Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.   Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of ballet. Contemporary dancers focus on floorwork, using gravity to pull them down to the floor. This dance genre is often done in bare feet. Contemporary dance can be performed to many different styles of music.  This is a 45 minute class.

Intro to Cecchetti Method - Levels 1 and 2

Cecchetti training is a method which pays careful attention to the laws of anatomy. The method is dedicated to maintaining the standards of classical Ballet training by Cavalier Enrico Cecchetti. It develops all the qualities essential to the dancer: Balance, poise, strength, elevation, elasticity and ballon. The CCA provides certification through a sequence of examinations carefully measured as to degree of difficulty and physical development for students.

Ballet exams are valuable because they promote the development of strong technique, artistry and quality of movement. Achieving goals heightens self-esteem by allowing the dancer to graduate from one level to the next developing a well trained dancer.
